What's a coffee cupping? It's kind of like a wine tasting but with coffee. It's a methodical process with universally recognized parameters, which allows coffee growers, traders, roasters and lovers to approach the same beans on a relatively level playing field despite how different their respective coffee cultures might be.
Not in Guatemala, but want to celebrate with us? You can! Sign up for a monthly coffee subscription and receive a DLG t-shirt at 50% off and/or consider donating. The International Coffee Organization is suggesting people participate in an Italian tradition called "Caffe Sospeso." It is a tradition of paying for a second cup of coffee to be given to a person in need. We are giving coffee lovers around the world the opportunity to stand in solidarity with the smallholder coffee farmers we represent here in Guatemala by donating the value of an additional cup of coffee.
