Pay it Forward to Coffee Producers!

The #PayItForwardToProducers Campaign

Donate $5 or $10 today, the equivalent of the price of a cup of coffee for you and a friend, and directly contribute to a more equitable and inclusive coffee industry.  Each donation will help sponsor leaders from our 5 cooperatives to attend the 2016 National Coffee Congress hosted by De la Gente and Anacafe (the national coffee association of Guatemala).  DLG’s professional development and #PayItForwardToProducers programs provide smallholder farmers access to the knowledge and resources needed to earn a fair wage through producing specialty coffee.

Join us in making the coffee industry more equitable and accessible for smallholder farmers by donating directly  to the cause, buying a bag of DLG coffee online and adding a donation to your order, and spreading the word to your family, friends and colleagues. Together we can make positive changes.

De la Gente works with coffee cooperatives in 5 main areas of focus:

Professional Development of cooperatives and their leadership is critical for their growth and sustainability. Every year, DLG supports cooperative leadership through our Coffee Congress, which we host alongside the Anacafé (national coffee association of Guatemala) annual conference that features a series of workshops and discussions related to coffee production, challenges, and developments within the industry. It is a great opportunity for producers from different backgrounds and regions to come together and learn more about their profession and share knowledge and resources with others.

This year DLG and the governing members of our partner cooperatives identified quality control and leadership development as primary needs.  This interactive workshop will provide farmers from all 5 of our unique partner cooperatives  with the opportunity to share their experiences from last year’s harvest and export, and begin to discuss plans for the upcoming harvest season  (December-March). Throughout this 3-day event of discussion and exchange, the farmers will further develop the skills needed to be strong leaders in both the cooperative and their communities.  This annual congregation not only provides tremendous opportunity for the farmers to communicate and collaborate, but also for DLG to strengthen relationships with partner cooperatives and continue to learn and develop as an organization.

With the Annual Coffee Congress on the horizon, this is your chance to get involved!

All donations will directly support  this exciting event to bring farmers together who otherwise would not have the chance to meet and exchange in such a unique and intimate setting. DLG will fund all travel costs of participating farmers to and from their respective communities, 4 nights in a hotel near our headquarters outside of Antigua, Guatemala, conference space, meals, and transportation to and from the conference center in Guatemala City.
