Our Roasts
The DLG signature roast brings out the characteristics and notes for which Guatemalan coffee is renowned.
Our espresso roast is not any darker than medium, just roasted longer at a reduced temperature, allowing for caramelization and a boosted body.
The full city roast is only a tad darker than medium, a little longer for fully caramelized sugars, and accentuates the darker tones.
The dark roast brings out the deep tones of the coffee, muting the acidity somewhat without adding negative carbon-like tones.

Specialty coffee is a type of coffee from the Arabica variety, which is known for its flavor and aroma, selected and harvested with greater care and attention. These beans have a superior quality and produce more unique flavors than commercial coffee. The term “specialty” is determined by a coffee grader, known as a Q-grader, who has a distinguished palate and can skillfully identify the quality of the coffee (specialty coffee beans are those ranked higher than 80/100 points during a cupping).
Typically, specialty coffee grows in specific regions or single farms with different environmental factors, altering the characteristics of the final product. Factors like the altitude, weather, climate, soil, and farming practices all play a role in developing a special flavor and aroma of coffee beans. By being hand-picked during harvest and carefully roasted, the coffee that De La Gente commercializes, reflects the origin and terroir of the beans with unique flavor profiles compared to commercial coffee.
