Size:

  • Notes: sugar cane and maple syrup, along with crisp flavors of green apple, grapefruit, and cocoa.

  • Variety: Pacamara

  • Elevation: 1,500-1,700 meters

  • What are Pacamara beans?: Its a rare type coffee variety from the arabica family, highly known for its large coffee bean size and distinctive flavor notes. In the 1950s, Salvadoran scientists crossed two arabica coffee varieties - the Pacas, known to be highly resistant and the Maragogipe, known for producing some of the largest coffee beans. The hybrid variety, called Pacamara, was released to coffee producers in the 1980s, after 30 years of careful research.

  • Huehuetenango Region: Arguably one of the most remote areas in Guatemala, the Huehuetenango highlands provide the highest and driest climate for coffee cultivation. Plants are nourished by warm winds that blow from the vast Tehuantepec Plains in Mexico and are protected from frost year round. These conditions and elevation gives way to a fine, intense acidity with a full body and pleasant notes.
